Marcélo Saavedra

BIO

Marcélo Saavedra (b.2000) is a multimedia artist from West Palm Beach, FL who is currently based in Baltimore, MD. He is a current student working on his BFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), majoring in General Fine Arts and minoring in Animation. Saavedra has received several merit based grants and scholarships. He is scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2025. Saavedra’s work aims to evoke complex emotions in his viewer with his raw subject matter pertaining to his experiences with complex, repeated traumas and hardships due to his disabilities and identity. He also focuses on relationships between humans and technology, informed by his own empathetic experiences with technology. Saavedra’s exploration with his emotions are evident through his rough mark making, repetition, varying textures, and vibrant colors. His works have been shown at exhibitions at his college.
